Kelis Respects Nas’ Album Cover

Ok. Nas’ new album cover is too hilarious. Does it mean that he misses his ex-wife Kelis or he just realizes he messed up a good thing…and has learned from it?

…Or maybe it means Damn! this b*tch got all my money.

Who knows?

But just by viewing the cover, I’m already anticipating the album entitled Life is Good,  which features appearances from Rick Ross, Mary J Blige, Swizz Beatz, Miguel and the late Amy Winehouse. Producers include No I.D., Salaam Remi, Justice League, Rodney Jerkins, Buckwild, Heavy D and Da Internz.

On the other hand, Kelis has responded to Nas’ cover, but says she respects his decision to “wear his heart on his sleeve.”

“You know, my feelings about it are not really relevant. At the end of the day, Nas is an artist and for whatever it’s worth, he’s one of the greatest, especially for what it is that he does.”

“For someone in hip-hop to really be genuine and honest, whatever the honesty is about, I think it’s awesome. My feelings about it aren’t necessarily valid, but as an artist I can respect that he wears his feelings on his sleeve. I like that,” she added.

NAS Demands Def Jam to “Put His Sh*t Out”!

Nas is quite upset that Def Jam will not release his album, even when the rapper has sold millions of albums in the past.

The nine-time Grammy nominee is fed up and recently wrote Def Jam this letter:

From: Nas
To: LA Reid, Steve Bartels, Steve Gawley, Michael Seltzer, Joseph Borrino, Chris Hicks
Subject: PUT MY SHIT OUT!

Peace to all,

With all do respect to you all, Nas is NOBODY’s slave. This is not the 1800′s, respect me and I will respect you.

I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty f*cked up situation

This isn’t the 90′s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a f*ck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.

Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog sh*t on a MAGICAL moment.

You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshPt $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have sh*t coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

I wish Nas all the best. Lord knows he needs his paper, with Kelis’ child support and ridiculous alimony.

nas will pay kelis $40,000 in child support

New father Nas has been ordered to pay ex-wife Kelis $40,000 per month in child support; one day after she gave birth to their son Knight Jones. The amount is considerably more than the $8000 (per month) that Nas offered in court. This should be the end of a long war between the two. Kelis believed Nas had been unfaithful during the marriage. However, soon after, a sex tape emerged starring the hip hop legends wife. Kelis filed for divorce in April.

2nd update: kelis gives birth with no nas around (shame on you)

Update: According to Wendy Williams, Nas was not a total no show for his son’s birth. He apparently did show up to the hospital to see his son and seperated wife, but was refused entrance (by Kelis) into her hospital room because HE WAS PLASTERED!

Can you believe it?!

Yesterday, Kelis gave birth to a baby boy Knight Jones. Kelis’ rep gave on official statement saying:

“Kelis gave birth to Knight Jones last night on July 22nd around 9PM. Weighing a healthy 7.8lbs, the beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful. This was a natural birth and Kelis had been in labor since early Monday morning around 2AM. Knight was delivered in a NYC hospital with her mother and sister in the room.”

And yes, it’s true. She was in labor for over 24 hours and Nas was never by her side. Stay strong Kelis! I’ve heard in the past that Nas was a HAN!

This morning she tweeted…

“Ok so I did it, he’s 7.8 pounds of the greatest stuff on earth…I was in labor for 3 of the longest most painful days of my life. I don’t understand when women say they don’t remember giving birth…I will remember for the rest of my life. He’s kinda perfect btw.”

The ex-couple was due in court for spousal and child support when Kelis went into labor.

nas and pete rock together again, was there beef?

NasPete Rock

After 15 years, legendary and pioneering rapper and producer Nas and Pete Rock are reuniting to work on new material. The two first put their heads together for Nas’ classis Illmatic album, which created several hits for Pete Rock including The World Is Yours.

Pete discussed the latest development recently, “I got a call from [Nas] one day. I was very excited when I saw that he called. I called him back and we conversed a bit, through the text, got him on the phone and we kicked it…I sent music to him. And I’ll just continue to send him music, you know? Whatever he likes, he’ll probably put to the side. But, I’m real excited about working with him.

”When asked why he hadn’t linked up with the Queens rapper since Illmatic, Pete responded, “I think it was a lot of situations [that caused the break off], but you know, but right now, I don’t give a damn. That was the past. You know, I always wanted to get down to the bottom of it, to see what the problem was.”

Pete Rock just recently finished work on Method Man and Redman’s Blackout 2; meanwhile the “nasty one” has been collaborating with Damian Marley and working on a summer tour.
