Peter Thomas and Cynthia Bailey’s Bar One and Bailey Modeling Agency in Trouble?

©Allen Cooley Photography

On a recent interview with Bravo’s Andy Cohen, RHOA’s  Peter Thomas (Cynthia Bailey’s husband) assured fans that his Atlanta venue Bar One was doing quite well. However, that may not be the truth.

Thomas is being sued for $100,000 for unpaid rent and bills at Bar One. The building’s landlord Eloshua Elliott says, [the] “defendant breached a lease agreement by failing to pay rent and other fees including late fees, bank charges, real estate property taxes and unpaid utilities.” The lawsuit said Thomas hasn’t paid his rent of $10,000 a month since March, 2013 through the end of the year.

Elliott has also separately filed a complaint against Thomas’ entertainment group for the property across the street at 670 Memorial Drive which houses the Bailey Agency, Bailey’s modeling and talent company.

Thomas has since stated that  the problem is his primary landlord Showtime Cafe for the Bar One property. (Elliott is partial land owner.) Prior to March, he said they had been taking his money for a year and not passing it on to the bank First Fidelity for the mortgage they owe. He said Showtime is in foreclosure proceedings and according to Loopnet, the property was auctioned off in October, 2013 but does not say to whom (Thomas’ attorney recommended he not release the names of the owners of Showtime.) Starting last March, he started placing his rental payments in escrow with his attorney until Showtime straightened out its issues with its bank.

“I’ve been caught in the middle of the crossfire,” Thomas said. In reality, he has no problem financially paying his rent.”

Lauryn Hills Eviction and Tax Troubles

20130421-134117.jpg

Lauryn Hill is now facing eviction from her South Orange, New Jersey home
. Shes only one month past due, yet her landlord has already taken her to court.

Her Tax Troubles

While recently being interrogated by the IRS, singer Lauryn Hill admitted why she not only avoided paying her taxes, but probably why she mysteriously disappeared from the music industry after only one mega platinum album.

Hill claims she stiffed Uncle Sam and fell off the map after the ’90s after receiving scary threats to her and her family.

Lauryn failed to file tax returns for 2005, ’06 and ’07 … when she earned a total of more than $1.8 million. She has already pled guilty and faces several years in prison.

According to official docs … Lauryn stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”

However, she won’t go into detail about the threats.

Lauryn’s asking the court to consider a bunch of other factors before her sentencing — including her claim that she can pay off the debt much faster if she’s not behind bars.

But it’s not looking good. Recently released actor Wesley

Lauryn is begging for probation instead of jail time, in order to begin paying her back taxes. A judge will be merciful — or not — on Monday, April 22.
