update: mj may not be buried in neverland

A anonymous source still says that no public memorial is planned for Neverland.

Although rumors have surfaced that a funeral is planned for this week, a person authorized to speak for the family says nothing is planned at lease through Friday.

The source says most likely the funeral will occur in Los Angeles, but the family has the final say.

However, a private memorial service for family and friends could take place at the ranch at a later date, but the family would have to get permission from local and state officials.

“The family is aware a Neverland burial is not possible. They are expected to make decisions about whatever funeral and memorial service” will take place, the source said.

In order for a Michael to be buried at Neverland, the family would have to submit an application and paperwork with the state Cemetary and Funeral Board. The approval could take up to 30 days.

Kim Brown, a spokeswoman for the Department of Consumer Affairs, could not confirm any application had been filed by Jackson family representatives as of yet.

Billionaire Thomas Barrack, who owns Neverland in a joint venture with Jackson, sought an exemption to bury the singer at the ranch, howeverm, the source  says it’s a complicated process and it couldn’t be done for a burial this week.

Jackson’s estate includes non-cash, non-liquid assets consisting of an interest in the catalog of music royalty rights; the most lucrative being the Sony/ATV Music Publishing Catalog which includes music from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers, and is estimated to be worth as much as $2 billion.

In a statement, Jackson’s lawyers mBranca and McClain said: “The most important element of Michael’s will is his unwavering desire that his mother, Katherine, become the legal guardian for his three children. As we work to carry out Michael’s instructions to safeguard both the future of his children as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve.”

Ex-wife Debbie Rowe surrendered her parental rights in 1996. However, later, an appeals court found an error and Rowe and Jackson settled out of court.

Neither Rowe nor her attorneys have indicated whether she intends to seek custody of the two oldest children.

Now that the will of MJ is soon to be presented in court, the funeral service for the pop legend is reported to take place on Neverland Ranch.

According to http://www.michaeljacksonfuneral.net, the memorial service will take place on Friday, July 3.

On Tuesday, construction workers and equipment flowed through Neverland, giving speculation of the funeral precidings and maybe even a permanent memorial. Tractors, mixers, backhoes, gardeners and florists with huge wreaths crowded the property.

On yesterday, members of  the Jackson family also met with Los Angeles police and the California Highway Patrol about details of the funeral service.

The two-lane, Figueroa Mountain Road, leading to the estate, will be jam packed with tourists and visitors paying their respects to the King of Pop.

Lt. Butch Arnoldi, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman, told E!: “Our guys are meeting as we speak with the California Highway Patrol to discuss the security issues.”

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is willing to accommodate the Jackson family with whatever request they have regarding a funeral procession should they have one,” Capt. David Sadecki said.

Neverland is located in the rolling hills of central California’s wine country, about 150 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Sources predict  that the city of Santa Barbara is soon to be the main attraction of the country, especially during the memorial service.

However, as of today, no request for a motorcade has been made.

“We must also prepare to accommodate Michael’s family’s wishes as they contemplate the location of his final resting place and their own return to the tranquil grounds of the Michael Jackson family compound.”

The California Highway Patrol has several meetings planned that will bring Southern California’s highways to a standstill on the day the family lays Michael to rest.
