once again an angel, farrah fawcett passes at 62

The moment I had been dreading for weeks now has finally come.

Sexy 70’s screen siren Farrah Fawcett passed away this morning at the age of 62.

The actress lost her battle with anal cancer at 9:30  am in a Santa Monica hospital with longtime companion and best friend Ryan O’Neil and Alana Stewart at her bedside.

“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away,” O’Neal said. “Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

Fawcett’s career blossomed as the most famous of the three Charlie’s Angels, the 1976 female  martial arts kicking, crime-fighting, secret agent series.

She soon after,  married the Six Million Dollar Man Lee Majors and became the most popular of the three angels, with posters, wigs, and t-shirts with her image selling in the millions.

After leaving the show after just one season, the starlet decided to tackle more serious roles. Although her first film debut entitled Somebody Killed Her Husband was a flop, she continued  her career starring in such classic dramas as Murder in Texas, Poor Little Rich Girl, and The Burning Bed, in which she played a battered wife and received an Emmy nomination and long-awaited approval from hollywood critics. Her 1986 role in Extremities also earned her critical acclaim, playing a woman raped in her own home.

ff14

In 1995, she posed for Playboy Magazine at age 50, looking more dazzling, beautiful and sexier than ever.

ff15

The most controversial altercations in her career occured during a 1997 appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, when after appearing extremely “light-headed” and rambling her answers, many believed the actress to be on drugs. However, she never affirmed the accusation, it was apparent that something was not right. The interview continues to be one of the most classic Letterman episodes. But now after her death , has been

removed from YouTube and others sites.

She continued to star in films and feature in tv shows well into 2000. That year, she starred in Dr. T and the Women, along with Richard Gere and Helen Hunt.

In September of 2006, Fawcett, who maintained a strict regimen of exercise and fitnes, started to feel extremely exhausted. After two weeks for extensive test, she was diagnosed with anal cancer. With her 17 year companion Ryan O’Neil by her side, the cause was never revealed.

ff19

This month, O’Neal said he asked Fawcett to marry him and she agreed. They would wed “as soon as she can say yes,” he said.

ff2

Farrah’s Story, a documentary on Fawcett’s medical journey aired in May on NBC, drawing nearly 9 million viewers.

ff20

Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett was born on February 2, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She later attended University of Texas at Austin where peers voted her one of the 10 Most Beautiful People on campus.

ff21Farrah has one son Redmond O’Neil, who is currently incarcerated. He was able to see his mother, bed-ridden,once,

during her illness.

Beautiful pictures! God Bless you, Ryan O’neal, and comfort you and help you to heal in this very hard time for you. My heart goes out to you, I know how difficult it is to lose loved ones. Be at peace knowing Farrah is in a much better place without pain & suffering. She is probably so happy now, watching over you and Redmond from her place in Heaven. Watch and listen to the birds, enjoy the sounds of crickets chirping, the waves of the ocean crashing on the beach, enjoy the warmth of the sun, the smell of the rain, the coolness of the Fall and Winter, enjoy the blueness of the sky, the beauty in the green trees, the colorful flowers, the company of a pet, the wonderful taste of your favorite foods and just remember that Farrah is up there with the incredible maker of all that is on this earth. Be happy for her – she is with her mother and the angels. God Bless you, Ryan O’neal!
