Rapper/actor 50 Cent recently had laser surgery to remove some of his infamous tattoes. The rapper came to the decision because he says it takes too long for them to be covered up in makeup when filming.
He tells AllHipHop.com, “I took some of the tattoos off because on the movie set, if we got a six o’clock call time, I have to be there (at) two o’clock the night before.
“I gotta go through four hours of make-up before we go ahead and play the role. So I just took it off my arm. My right arm.”
Multi-platinum selling rap artist 50 Cent will make an appearance at the Manhattan Play N Trade store on today, April 30, 2009 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. to promote his new video game, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.
Play N Trade of Manhattan, located at 137 E. 13 Street, will be hosting the event which will feature Blood on the Sand playing on one of three demo station game consoles as well as customer meet and greet with 50 Cent.

While Jay-Z topped Forbes.com’s inaugural Hip-Hop Cash Kings list of the top-earning people in the business last year, in 2008 he cedes the throne to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who raked in $150 million over the past 12 months–almost twice what Jay-Z made.
Fitty banked $100 million after taxes on one deal alone when his stake in VitaminWater’s parent, Glacéau, was bought by Coca-Cola as part of a $4.1 billion deal. The rapper’s business empire also includes the G-Unit clothing line and record label, plus films, videogames and platinum albums, including last year’s “Curtis.”
Also in the works is a partnership with South African mining billionaire Partrice Motsepe that would bring the rapper an equity stake in the mine–and 50 Cent-branded platinum to the world.
For the second year in a row, Sean “Diddy” Combs finished third on the list with $35 million from his revenue streams, including his clothing line Sean John, record label Bad Boy, premium vodka Ciroc and two reality-TV shows.
Kanye West clocks in at No. 4 with $30 million, while Andre “Dr. Dre” Young earned $15 million last year – based solely on his catalog of hits spanning two decades.
Tupac, who died 10 years ago, also made about $15 million, according to Forbes.
G-Unit may be losing yet another member. For months now MediaTakeOut.com has been reporting that rapper Lloyd Banks is not completely comfortable with his deal over at Interscope Records.
A snitch told MediaTakeOut.com that he “wouldn’t be surprised if [Lloyd] Banks was out before the end of the month.”
According to the insider, “It has nothing to do with 50 personally, it’s the label. Lloyd loves [50] like a brother, it’s the business people that are messing things up.”
50 Cent’s finances are being hit. First, his much hyped G-Unit album sold less than 100,000 copies. Now, his ex girlfriend and mother of his 11-year-old son is suing him for $50 million in damages caused by the fire that destroyed the home she was living in.
The fire, labeled by officials as “suspicious,” claimed the Long Island home back in May. By that time, the dispute between 50 and his ex,Shaniqua Tompkins, had already begun with the rapper beginning eviction proceedings against her.
Tompkins took her opinions to the media, telling TMZ that 50 Cent set the blaze to avoid having to honor an agreement made between them.
“There wasn’t a written contract but an expressed oral agreement, which is recognized in the New York courts,” Tompkins’ attorney Paul Catsandonis explained to The Hudson Reporter. “They decided years ago that she was going to be the domestic partner, and she was going to provide the domestic services while he devoted all his time to becoming a Hip-Hop artist. Whatever profits he was able to achieve would be divided equally, and he had promised her and their son that they could live in the house. He breached that contract.”
Catsadonis concedes that the relationship between 50 and Tompkins should be viewed as a common-law marriage.
“We are moving into the modern era where people are not getting married anymore but are common law husband and wife.” Catsadonis said.
In addition to the lawsuit, Tompkins has also filed a restraining order to keep the rapper away from her and has refused to let him see his son.
50 fired back with a $20 million defamation suit and a complaint against Tompkins for violating their current custody agreement.
In a recent interview with MTV, 50 said, “My relationship with my son is changing because me and his mom aren’t friends anymore…The relationship between my wallet and his mom has changed. When people have expensive habits, it’s a hell of a transition for them when that money is not there anymore. She said all kinds of thins about me I would never expect.”
The Suffolk County Family Court is expected to begin proceedings on July 17 to hear arguments for 50’s visitation rights.
At press time, there had been no further comment from 50 or Tompkins.
